It seems as though once summer hits, Moose Jaw becomes alive as tourists and visitors to our city explore the various things we have to offer.

According to Tourism Moose Jaw, our numbers were down slightly in May but jumped back up in June. Executive Director, Jacki L’Heureux-Mason, has high hopes for what's to come.

"It's been a really interesting year; we found May was down a tiny little bit but also at the visitor centre just marginally. June, however, was up about 6.75% as far as people in our doors. I haven't heard a lot of feedback but I know personally just being out and about it really picked up and June was busy."

"Of course we've got Pride Week coming up, Festival of Words on right now – July is a very very busy month. Then it opens up in August to really focus on a lot of families coming in to take in more of the activities. We anticipate a fairly busy August as far as things look. Especially if the requests that we've been getting the last few months from people talking about coming in pan out, it looks like it could be a busy month."

One attraction, the Trolley, is unfortunately undergoing some maintenance and will be off the road for 2-3 weeks. L’Heureux-Mason noted that despite the Trolley being out of commission, they have other transportation in place for people to utilize during this time.

"No doubt in my mind it's going to end up being bigger and better [after repairs]. But in the meantime we do have a couple of options that we are working on to make sure that we are at least getting that tour out. The experience with the trolley may not be the same, but we're really excited. Over the weekend we're going to be working with Wrapture Limousine and we're going to be using their party bus, and so we're going to be running our daytime tours on the weekend. I'm really excited for the ghost tours to be running in this. I think its going to add a really cool element to it."

Tourism Moose Jaw also added a new downtown information booth this year, which has seen an overall day-to-day number increase compared to last year.

With events like Festival of Words, Pride Week and more upcoming, L’Heureux-Mason says there should be a lot of new faces stopping in Moose Jaw.
