With support from other municipal officials across the province, Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie has been elected as the new chair of the Saskatchewan City Mayors’ Caucus, and in turn, represent Saskatchewan’s cities on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for SUMA.

For a two year term, Tolmie will serve alongside the vice-chair Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers as they work through common challenges that other cities across Saskatchewan face.

"I wanna continue to build on what we've been doing recently in our own community in building a better relationship with the province and open up the conversation about the concerns that we have as cities," said Tolmie following the vote on Thursday. "Those challenges are also provincial challenges."

Mayor Tolmie says they'll need to find the common ground and talk about what's the greater good for our cities, our communities and our province altogether.

The CMC brings together the mayors of Saskatchewan’s 16 cities to discuss issues of common concern and have a voice on pressing provincial issues that municipalities face.
