While the Moose Jaw area escaped any potential storm activity Thursday night, it was a different story around Lake Diefenbaker.

A severe thunderstorm swept through the area, with the curling rink in Strongfield, about 25 km north of Elbow on Highway 19, destroyed as a result.

Environment Canada hasn't confirmed whether or not a tornado touched down in the community, but a tornado warning for the area had been issued by the weather service Thursday evening.

There were reports of a tornado touching down in the community of Loreburn, which is about 12 km south of Strongfield.
