The Moose Jaw Warriors are gearing up for what is shaping up to be an exciting year for the club, as they are a day away from opening up their 2022-23 Western Hockey season. 

The Warriors play the Pats in Regina tomorrow night.  Head coach Mark O’Leary and his boys are ready to go, building on what they established last season. 

“Well, I think we have got to our identity. It helps with so many guys returning from last year that we worked hard last year to build that identity and I'm really pleased with the steps we've taken this year to just get back to that style of play,” O’Leary said. 

On Saturday night, the Warriors will host the Pats at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. 

The U-18 Winmar Warriors open their new season on home ice this weekend with back-to-back games versus the Battlefords Stars on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Both games are at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. 

Local high school football action this weekend there was just one game in Moose Jaw and that has the 2 and 1 Central Cyclones playing the 0 and 3 Vanier Vikings tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Elks Field. 

The Peacock Tornadoes get the bye this weekend.  They'll host the undefeated Yorkton Raiders a week from Saturday.  The Raiders are coming off an 86-0 win over Estevan this past weekend. 

NFL Thursday night football features the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. 

And the Blue Jays lost in Philadelphia last night to the Phillies 4-3 in an extra inning. The Jays play the Rays in Tampa Bay tonight.
