SCRAPS Moose Jaw stray cat rescue is currently selling tickets for its “It Takes a Village” birdhouse raffle.

The birdhouses were handcrafted by Don Lammle and are on display at the SCRAPS 9 Lives Boutique in the Town n Country Mall.

“This year he made seven buildings that are actually birdhouses, small scale, and they look like a 1940s village,” explained Ray Rawlyk from SCRAPS.

The seven birdhouses include a church, jail house, “Worms & More Café", general store, cottage, “Wrens Motors”, and livery.

All of the funds raised through the raffle will go back into SCRAPS’s trap and release program.

“We typically have bills in excess of $70,000 to $80,000 yearly that we fundraise the entire amount. We get no help from the city, there’s no grans or subsidies or anything like that,” Rawlyk said.

Tickets are $10 each and only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchase at the 9 Lives Boutique, Pet Valu, Excalipurr Cat Café in Regina, DDK Pets and Tourism Moose Jaw.
