The province's K-12 Schools will be open in the fall, but school boards are still unsure of exactly how that will look in the fall.

Prairie South School Board director of education Tony Baldwin said they will be thrilled to see students in the hallways of their schools

“We’re still learning about the details,” Baldwin said. “We know that we’ll have to do some additional cleaning work, and we’ve been doing some stuff like that already because our staff have been in the buildings, but we’re also going to have to sort out pieces like that. And we don’t have any information about extracurricular activities, and other uses of the school buildings that are beyond the teaching and learning piece.”

Teachers and staff are still working on a plan B in case they have to do more online learning during a second wave of COVID-19. Baldwin said they will potentially be needing their teachers to be ready for online again, just in case of another lockdown.

“We told our teachers… probably a month ago that we are going to need them to be completely digital-ready for remote learning for the fall, so that’s something our teachers are working this week and what they were working on last week as well.”

While there is a football schedule ready to go for the 2020 season, and a schedule of tournaments for various high school sports for 2020-2021, Baldwin said they're still not sure about extracurricular activities once the fall hits.
