Riverside Mission in Moose Jaw has resumed lunch services for those in need, after taking a long hiatus.

Emergency Services Manager, Rachel Mullens.

"Middle of March we had to cancel lunch services because of COVID restrictions. Not being able to have volunteers in to help us, and only having two of us on - we thought the supper meal was more important to hand out because it's a bigger meal. The two of us could do the supper meal, we just didn't think we could pull off the lunch and supper meal together on the same day."

Lunch is served at the Mission for those in need each weekday between 11 and 12. You do not need to call ahead to get your meal.

The Mission also has a number of guidelines and health measures in place.

"They obviously all need to wear a mask when they come in through the door. They come in, we give them a spray of hand sanitizer, then we hand them a to-go bag with their lunch meal in it. We give them a coffee or tea, and then they exit out of the building."

And with more meals being served now on a daily basis, Riverside Mission is looking for food donations. In particular, they are looking for turkeys, buns, and frozen vegetables for their upcoming Christmas meal, as well as rice, pasta, flour, and sugar.

They also accept warm clothing donations at any time, particularly gloves, toques, and scarves.
