The HomeStand'21 concert was a beautiful event at the Ross Well Park this past August, and over 1,000 people enjoyed watching multiple musicians play.

It was put on by River Street Promotions, a nonprofit organization that connects the community with entertainers and artists. All of the funds received go back into the community by supporting mental health and wellness education along with recovery in the Prairie South School Division.

"It [the concert] came together and that's going to be our continued focus going forward... supporting our kids and making sure we're supporting the efforts of our school divisions, professionals and experts in the mental health field, and trying to bring appropriate programming and wellness efforts to our kids," said Shea Jameson from River Street Promotions.

It's all thanks to four local men from River Street Promotions who came together and spent months coordinating the event. The other men involved were James Murdock, Andy Hamilton, Jared Mathieson, and of course honourary moosejavian Joel Stewart.

The concert was a massive community event. Volunteers came together from all over the city to set it all up, and the event had the Anavets working the bar tents.

"It was pretty remarkable to see how the community came together. We were getting all kinds of calls on what people could do to help out and when the challenges did present themselves, you know, we had a lot of people step up and support us to make sure this thing did come together," said Jameson.

Many corporate sponsors supported the creation of the concert but the title sponsor was K+S Potash Canada.

"The corporate support right from the time the event was announced, we started receiving inquiries. Thank you to the local businesses and entities that supported with sponsorship dollars because without them, this would not have happened and it's that plain and simple, " said Murdock.

With all of the sponsor's support and with the money from 1,200 tickets sold, River Street Promotions is putting a sizable donation back into the community.

River Street Promotions is donating $50,000  to the Prairie South School Division for mental health initiatives that will be used to make life better for staff and students.

It will also donate $15,000 to Ross Wells Park to assist with improvements and renovations.

The members presented the cheques to Prairie South and Ross Wells Park yesterday, on the Heartland at Noon Show with Rob Carnie on 800 CHAB.

River Street Promotions has also confirmed that plans for Homestand'22 are already in the works.
