The provincial government reported 528 new cases of COVID-19 Friday across Saskatchewan, along with five deaths linked to the virus. With 503 recoveries also reported, there are now 4,734 active cases in Saskatchewan.  

The five deaths bring the total number of deaths in September up to 60, and the number of deaths since the start of the pandemic is now 663.  

There were three more people admitted to the hospital, and three people admitted to intensive care. This puts the total number of people in hospitals in Saskatchewan receiving care for COVID-19 to 276, the highest mark since the start of the pandemic. The 61 people in intensive care is the highest during the pandemic as well.  

Of the new cases that were reported on Friday, 120, or 22.7 percent, were those under the age of twelve. In all, 453 of the new cases were those who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, with the remaining 75 cases being those who were fully vaccinated. 

Another 2,910 first doses of a COVID vaccine were administered, with 2,156 second doses administered. Throughout the province, 68.9 percent of the total population now has their first dose, and 61.5 percent have their second dose of a COVID vaccine.
