The Assiniboia Southern Rebels are unbeatable so far in the Prairie Junior Hockey League season.  They picked up their fifth straight win to start the year on Wednesday night, knocking off the Ochapowace Thunder, 5-3, at the Assiniboia Civic Centre.

The Rebels were held off the board until there was 5:36 to go in the opening frame, that's when league leading scorer, Zach Flemming, picked up his seventh on the year.  Assiniboia would go up 2-0 before the period was out as Josh Beck scored on the power play with 1:33 to go in frame.

The second period started off great for the Rebels as they built up a 4-0 lead on goals from Ryan Branton, that one coming with the man advantage, and Beck's second of the night, but Ochapowace would finish the period strong.  Kirk Cameron got the Thunder on the board with 3:18 to go in the frame and then Ron Cote scored with 40 seconds remaining on the clock.  Both goals came on the power play.

Assiniboia came out firing to start the third though as Brayden Leslie potted his second of the season just 2:02 into the frame for a 5-2 lead.  A late goal by Lenny Keshane pulled Ochapowace within two, but that was as close as they would get.

Flemming extended his league lead in points thanks to a two point night, he has 12 points in five games, and Bryan Polmear picked up two assists in the win.

Gatlin Schwartz made 28 saves to pick up the win for the Rebels, while they fired 40 shots on the Thunder goal.

Next action for the Rebels is coming up on Saturday night when they host the Saskatoon Quakers at the Civic Centre.  The Quakers come in with the best record in the North Division at 5-2-0.  The Tri-Town Thunder will also be in Assiniboia on Sunday afternoon.
