Saskatchewan RCMP is putting a warning out to the public about the presence of methamphetamine and fentanyl in the southern part of the province.

Police officers have responded to three fatal overdoses this past week where meth and fentanyl are believed to have played a factor.

Assiniboia RCMP was called to a report of an unresponsive man at a home in Assiniboia on Feb. 9. EMS attended and declared the man dead at the scene.

RCMP says crystals and an off-white power were found at the scene, which is believed to be meth or fentanyl.

The other overdoses occurred at a hotel room in Moosomin on Feb. 13 and outside a residence in Preeceville on Feb. 14.

Autopsies and toxicology analyses will be performed by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to confirm the role the drugs may have played in the suspected overdoses.

If you are to consume illicit drugs, the RCMP recommends taking special precautions including never using alone, letting someone you trust know of your plans to use, always carrying a Naloxone kit and calling 9-1-1 if you suspect an overdose is occurring.
