The RCMP is letting the public know that they do not send information about traffic tickets over text.

Recently, people in the province have been receiving text messages saying that they have been caught speeding in school zones and are provided with a fraudulent link to click.

Residents should not click links, send money, or respond to those texts. Instead, they should block the number, and keep a record of any texts sent.

You can either report scam attempts to RCMP via 310-RCMP or by calling the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. You can find more information about the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or make an online report here
