The first official rankings of the U Sports football season came out on Tuesday and one Saskatchewan team was able to crack the top ten.

The Regina Rams start their season ranked tenth in the country. They join Calgary (#5) and UBC (#6) from the Canada West conference in the top-ten to open the season.

The defending Vanier Cup champion Western Mustangs start the season ranked number one in the country. They overcame a 20-3 halftime deficit to beat the Carleton Ravens, 26-23 in overtime, in their season opener on Sunday.

Moose Jaw’s Levi Paul and the McMaster Marauders are seventh in the rankings after opening their season with a 16-15 win over Guelph last week.

The Rams feature Maguire Abell and Jacob Laboccetta from Moose Jaw this season. They will kick-off their season on Friday night by hosting the Calgary Dinos at Mosaic Stadium, kick-off is at 7 p.m.

Moose Jaw’s Joel Litt-Jukes is on the Saskatchewan Huskies this season and they open their 2018 campaign by hosting the Alberta Golden Bears on Friday at 8 p.m.
