It seems as though our transition into winter has arrived.

After having some rather warm temperatures throughout the month of October, starting a new month seems like the start of a new season as now we're seeing colder daytime highs, snow, and rain.

"There's a system that's tracking across Saskatchewan, it's also pulling down some colder air, and then temperatures are going to start falling," explained Shannon Moodie, a meteorologist with Environment Canada. "That rain is going to transition to snow, along with that today they're going to have northwesterly winds gusting to about 50km/h."

Moodie is also warning residents that the precipitation and cold temperatures are going to remain persistent through the first half of the week.

"Into Tuesday those winds will pick up to be 40 gusting to 60 (km/h), and with that snow falling there will likely be some local blowing snow in open areas especially... you can expect the snow to taper off Tuesday afternoon."

According to the forecast the system should be moving out soon, with the potential of sunshine returning on Tuesday and remaining the rest of the week with daytime highs just below ten degrees.
