Following a two week closure at the Phyllis Dewar outdoor pool, it's finally set to be re-opened today at 11:30 am.

The pool was originally closed to have electrical work done, which ended up being a lot bigger of a problem than anticipated.

Operations Manager for Parks and Recreation, Cory Oakes details the work that was done.

"The main power feed going into the building, which was the initial issue, was repaired. We had to then take a couple days to get the water clarity and water chemistry back in check"

Oakes says that the water clarity isn't just for the users of the pool, but it's also very important for the lifeguards as well.

"The lifeguards need to be able to see the bottom, that way there's no issues when there are swimmers in the pool so we wanted to ensure we could provide full, clear vision in the water before we opened it."

As long as the weather stays nice outside, and Phyllis Dewar outdoor pool is set to stay open until September 4th.
