The Prairie Hockey Academy played two tight games against OHA Edmonton in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League's Elite 15 Division over the weekend.

PHA came away with an 8-6 win on Saturday night at the Barkman Arena in Caronport, but OHA Edmonton responded with a 4-3 win on Sunday morning.

PHA is now 3-4 during their inaugural season in the CSSHL. They will play four games coming up this weekend at the Edge School in Calgary.

Both offences came to play in the opening game of the weekend for the two squads.

Caelan Fitzpatrick had a hat trick and four points, while Atley Calvert also scored three times as the duo accounted for six out of eight goals in the win for PHA.

OHA Edmonton picked up a goal from Warriors listed player Nicholas Degraves only 25 seconds into the game and then Evan Waldie put OHA Edmonton up by two just 5:27 later.

Fitzpatrick scored only 20 seconds after that to get PHA on the board and he picked up his second of the game on the power play midway through the first.

Austin Lusok scored in the final minute of the first to put OHA Edmonton in front 3-2 after one.

PHA took control of the game early the second period as Fitzpatrick completed the hat trick just 2:57 into the frame and Calvert scored his first of the night only 54 seconds after that to quickly turn the game into a 4-3 PHA lead.

Tyler Tarkowski tied the game up at 4-4 with 12:14 left in the second, but Warriors listed player Max Wanner quickly answered for PHA just 38 seconds later.

Calvert picked up his second of the game with 1:02 to go in the second and Austin Reschny added to PHA’s lead with 21 seconds left in the period to make it 7-4.

OHA Edmonton cut PHA's lead down to one with goals from Liam Dumelle and Jacob Guitard in the third, but Calvert scored his hat trick goal into an empty net with 1:21 to go to seal the win.

PHA goalie Nathan Airey stopped 24-of-30 shots in the win, while PHA fired 32 shots on OHA Edmonton goalie Jayden Dyce.

PHA went 1-for-7 on the power play, while they were 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.

OHA Edmonton got off to a quick start on Sunday and the Prairie Hockey Academy couldn't catch up.

Despite PHA outshooting OHA Edmonton 11-4 in the first period, OHA Edmonton took a 2-0 lead on goals from Blake Eastman and Waldie only 1:35 apart.

The two sides traded goals in the second period.

Guitard scored for OHA Edmonton 1:24 into the frame to make it a three-goal lead, but Calvert picked up his fourth goal of the weekend to get PHA on the board 5:36 later.

Zac Maxwell restored the three-goal lead less than three minutes later and Warriors draft pick Kirk Mullen potted a power play goal for PHA with 3:18 left in the second to make it a 4-2 game.

Mullen scored his second of the game on the power play midway through the third, but that would be as close as PHA would get.

PHA outshot OHA Edmonton 38-29 in the loss, while going 2-for-8 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Airey allowed three goals on eight shots, while Chase Coward came on and stopped 20-of-21 shots in the loss.
