It was another solid weekend for the Prairie Hockey Academy's Elite 15 Cougars in Penticton, B.C.

The Cougars posted a 2-1 record during three games in three days in the Okanagan. They beat the Pursuit of Excellence Academy 5-4 in a shootout on Friday, fell 5-2 to the Yale Hockey Academy on Saturday, and finished the weekend with a 5-2 win over the West Van Academy on Sunday.

PHA will have a couple of home games coming up this weekend when they host OHA Edmonton on Saturday and Sunday at the Barkman Arena.

PHA 5 POE 4 (SO)

The Cougars earned the first win of their inaugural season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in their third game as they battled the POE all the way through a shootout.

Austin Reschny, Caelan Fitzpatrick, Evan Callaghan, and Connor McGrath picked up a goal and two points each for PHA in the win, while Fitzpatrick and Ethan Peters scored in the shootout.

Nathan Airey turned away 23 shots in goal for PHA, while the Cougars peppered the POE net with 37 shots over the four periods. PHA had 19 shots in the third period as fought their way back from 3-2 and 4-3 deficits.

Fitzpatrick scored the game-tying goal for PHA with 1:30 to go in the third period.

Yale 5 PHA 2

The Cougars ran into a hot goalie on Saturday as Yale netminder Brayden Melnyk turned away 39 shots in the win.

Reschny opened the scoring for PHA only 2:32 into the game, but Yale would score three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead with 4:00 to go in the second period.

Moose Jaw Warriors draft pick Kirk Mullen would score a power play goal for PHA with 1:12 left in the second to make it a one-goal game going into the third.

Yale didn't give PHA a chance to come back however as they scored twice in the third, including an empty-net goal to seal the win.

Chase Coward made 27 saves in the loss for the Cougars.

PHA 5 West Van 2

PHA bounced right back from Saturday's loss in Sunday’s matchup with the West Van Academy, as they scored four times in the first period and rolled to the win.

Fitzpatrick scored just 1:54 into the game and then added his second of the contest 2:56 later to make it 2-0 less than five minutes into the game.

Mullen put PHA up by three under three minutes later and Easton Ediger finished off the first-period onslaught with a power-play goal at 15:25.

Ediger scored his second of the game in the second period to give PHA the 5-2 win.

Reschny finished with three assists in the win, while Fitzpatrick had two goals and four points.
