A four-goal first period was more than enough for the Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors to capture the SHA Peewee AA Tier II provincial championship on Friday night.

The Warriors entered the second game of the two-game total point series tied with the Prince Albert Stars at 4-4 after Game 1 last weekend in Northern Saskatchewan.

On Friday at the Red Knight Arena, Moose Jaw came flying out of the gate, scored four goals in the first 10:41 and rolled to a 5-0 win over the Stars.

"We were pretty fired up in the dressing room," said Warriors forward Layne Gadd, who scored the first two goals for Moose Jaw, 1:26 and 8:47 into the game.

"We just worked hard, kept the pressure on them and put it in the back of the net."

Trehvan McMorris and Noah Thul would add the other first period goals as the Warriors led 4-0. Kai Spencer banged in the Warriors' fifth goal just before the midway point of the second period.

Goalie Schay Camphaug did the rest, stopping any Stars pressure during the third period to solidify the shutout.

"It feels pretty great," said Camphaug after the game. "You work hard for it, then you get a shutout and you get to be the provincial champion, so it's pretty special."

Camphaug is a double champion this season, also winning the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League South Division title with the Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks last weekend.

"I love both teams and for both to get championships, that’s pretty cool for me," she said.

The Warriors haven't lost yet this season, posting a perfect record into the Hockey Regina league heading into the final. Head Coach Darren Pratte said the team hasn't let up all season and it's been great to watch.

"We've got every kid doing their job and buying in and they just come to the rink, they work hard and they've found a way to keep it going, it's unbelievable," said Pratte.

The Warriors will try to finish off their championship run when they take on the Regina Tigers on Saturday night at the Co-Operators Centre in the Hockey Regina league final. If necessary, Game 2 of the final will be on Sunday.
