The Moose Jaw Peewee Mustangs didn’t lose at all during the regular season and they made sure that continued into the playoffs on Monday night.

The Mustangs went into Regina and beat the Roughnecks, 8-5, in the opening game of the playoffs in the Queen City Box Lacrosse League’s Peewee Division.

Rowan Calvert finished with three goals and four points to pace the attack for the Mustangs, while Josh Johnson chipped in with a goal and two points.

Moose Jaw trailed 3-1 after the first period with Calvert picking up the only goal in the frame.

The Mustangs turned it on the second period and took a 5-4 lead after picking up four goals in the middle frame. Calvert started the scoring just over five minutes into the second and scored twice in the period to complete his hat trick.

The Mustangs held onto their one-goal lead in the third, extending it to 6-4 with a goal from captain Carter Michaluk just before the midway point. Dalton Cushway and Johnson helped seal the win for Moose Jaw later in the period.

With the win, the Mustangs advance into the semifinals and will await their next opponent now.
