The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors put together a dominating performance on Saturday in the Hockey Regina League.

Moose Jaw skated to an 11-2 win over the Prairie Storm Thunder at the Red Knight Arena.

Aiden MacDonald paced the attack for the Warriors with two goals and five points, while Marc Belanger posted two goals and three points. Jacob Michelson and Chance Cole and three points each as well.

The Warriors were rolling right out of the gate in the contest with Belanger and Michelson scoring only five seconds apart just over a minute into the game.

MacDonald added his first of the game and Belanger picked up his second as the first period went on, giving Moose Jaw a 4-1 advantage after one.

The Thunder scored early in the second, but it was all Moose Jaw after that as they scored seven unanswered goals to roll to the win.

Cole King scored twice in the third period.

The win improves Moose Jaw’s record to 11-3-3 on the year, which has them three points back of the first place Regina Bisons with one game in hand.

Next action for the Warriors is on Monday night when they battle the Regina Blues in the Queen City. Puck drops at 8 p.m. at the Cooperators Centre.

In other Hockey Regina League action on the weekend, the Midget A Warriors lost 12-2 to the Regina Buffaloes on Saturday and then dropped a 3-1 game to the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday.

The Bantam A Warriors were shutout 2-0 by the Wings in Weyburn on Sunday.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks went into Swift Current on Sunday and dominated their way to an 8-1 win over the Colts in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Nikita Halyk opened the scoring only 2:29 into the game, but that was the only goal in the first period.

Halyk and the Mavericks would heat up midway through the second period when they scored three goals from Kaitlyn Gilroy, Keara Merriman and Halyk over a span of 5:01 to move in front 4-0.

The Colts broke up the shutout late in the second period.

Gilroy, Merriman and Halyk all found the back of the net against in the opening five minutes of the third to help seal the win for Moose Jaw.

Halyk finished with a hat trick, while Gilroy posted two goals and five points in the victory. Merriman added two goals and three points, while Sidney Ellingson scored the seventh goal for Moose Jaw and finished with three points.

The Mavericks out-shot the Colts, 58-6, in the win.

Moose Jaw now sits at 16-2-1 on the year. They will host the Regina Shamrocks on Thursday night at the Bert Hunt Arena, puck drops at 7:15 p.m.

The Midget AA Mavericks were also on the ice over the weekend, they lost 10-2 to the Regina Capitals at Mosaic Place on Saturday night. Alyssa Fisher and Taylor Mantel scored in the loss for Moose Jaw.

The Moose Jaw Midget AA Warriors didn’t have the trip to Yorkton that they were looking for this weekend.

Moose Jaw lost 8-1 to the Terriers on Saturday night and then dropped a 7-2 game on Sunday in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

Hayden Wiebe had the Warriors’ lone goal in Saturday’s loss, while Noah Braun and Garrick Ward score on Sunday for Moose Jaw.

The two losses drop the Warriors’ record to 5-20-2 on the year. They will be back on the ice coming up this weekend when they host the Regina Capitals on Saturday and the Notre Dame Argos on Sunday.

After skating to a big win in Swift Current on Wednesday, the Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors couldn’t find the same success in their rematch with the Broncos on Friday night.

The Warriors lost 10-2 at the Red Knight Arena in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

Ty Pratte scored for Moose Jaw late in the first period to make it a one-goal game after one, but the Broncos exploded for five goals in the second period.

Curtis Smith had the Warriors’ other marker on a power play midway through the second.

Moose Jaw falls to 5-14-2 on the year with the loss. They will look to bounce back next Tuesday when they host the Yorkton Terriers at the Bert Hunt Arena.

The Moose Jaw Bantam AA Warriors travelled to southeast Saskatchewan on the weekend and came away with a pair of losses.

Moose Jaw fell 5-0 to the Weyburn Wings on Saturday and then were shutout again on Sunday, losing 6-0 to the Estevan Bruins in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League.

The Warriors are still searching for their first win this season as they’re 0-24-0.

They will be back on the ice this weekend for a pair of home games when they host Melville on Saturday and Weyburn on Sunday.
