With less than a month to go, organizers and local businesses are preparing for the week long event next month.

Moose Jaw is set to host the 2018 Atamiskakewak National Gathering from April 23rd to the 28th at various locations across the city.

"There are venues all throughout the city; we have all of our hotels that are involved with accommodations for our guests coming in," explained Kallie Wood, of Converging Pathways and organizer. "We have the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery, Multicultural Centre, the Public Library, Mosaic Place, Western Development Museum, the Heritage Inn (involved) - there's places all over."

Not only will local dignitaries be in attendance at Atamiskakewak, but it will also bring tourists and special guests to Moose Jaw for the week.

"We have ambassadors of reconciliation from South Africa and Australia as well, to learn how we do reconciliation in our country. As far as nationally, from coast to coast we have Grand Chiefs coming, we have indigenous people coming," said Wood.

This week will have consistent components of education for youth and adults, and Wood went on to mention there's activities for children to enjoy too.

"There will be a full complete Indian village set up at the Western Development museum and it already has got over 1,700 youth registered to go through. It's really coming together; lots of people are getting registered for conferences. The really attractive thing about this is it's free to attend the events."
