The City of Moose Jaw will be hosting an open house on Feb. 22 regarding the city’s proposed new solid waste management facility.

There will be two sessions taking place at the Moose Jaw Events Centre’s Mezzanine Level. The sessions take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

The city is currently planning the development of a new solid waste management facility to replace the current landfill. The proposed location is about two kilometres directly north of Moose Jaw on two quarter sections of land in the RM of Moose Jaw No. 161.

The come-and-go sessions will give residents the chance to see the key components of the proposed facility. Representatives from the City of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment, and consultants from GHD and Association Engineering will also be on hand to answer questions.

The open house is also a chance to give feedback before the RM of Moose Jaw considers the city’s Discretionary Use application for the proposed site.

According to the city, invitation letters will be sent to property owners in the RM in the vicinity of the proposed site. Further details about the proposed solid waste management facility can be found here
