It’s far from game-over for members of the Moose Jaw Gamers.

The gaming group last held their popular GAX Expo in February of 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the province and public health orders came into effect.

Since then, the group has been meeting and playing through video chats such as Zoom and Discord.

Executive member Kristian Sjoberg says they were even working on a web series through YouTube when the pandemic hit.

“We were looking at producing our own online web series with regular episodes of hilarity and hijinks and Dungeons and Dragons play, and there's a whole list of characters. We're really looking forward to getting back to that,” he said.

Once the public health orders came into effect which did not allow for groups to gather, the Moose Jaw Gamers had to put the GAX expo on pause.

But gaming enthusiasts fear not, as the Moose Jaw Gamers executive team is working towards returning their expos as soon as possible.

“Say we get something happening, and the numbers are allowed back in September, October, November. We're looking at doing kind of a mini gaming expo with just the books, the D&D, a lot of the board games, none of the networking side of things,” Sjoberg adds.

The Moose Jaw Gamers are penciled in to hold their first full GAX expo since the pandemic on Feb. 4-6, 2022 at the Mae Wilson Theatre as long as public health orders will allow the event to happen.
