A PARTY held earlier this year showing students the dangers of impaired driving

Twisted steel, screaming patients and police making an arrest.  Don't call 9-1-1, this has all been planned. Moose Jaw Police and emergency crews are staging a mock crash Wednesday that will involve dozens of people.  The idea is to show what could happened if you drink and drive.

The Prevention of Alcohol Related Trauma in Youth, or PARTY, is a partnership done with local schools to show youth how a drunk driving scenario could turn out. Sergeant Cliff Froehlich with the Moose Jaw Police Service says it's a good visual to send home a powerful message.

"We're gonna set up a mock disaster near the Union Hospital, we're going to call in the fire trucks and the police vehicles and we have the kids witness all the actions of the officers and then we have some actors that are involved as well."

After the mock crash, students will take part in demonstrations showing things like the penalties that come with drunk driving.
