One local group is painting the town Rainbow.

It's Pride Week in the city of Moose Jaw through to Saturday and the local chapter has upped their game this year.

Not only is their mural complete to be officially unveiled on Friday, but they're also bringing some high-end entertainers and special guests to the city of Moose Jaw according to Executive Director of Moose Jaw Pride, Joe Wickenhauser.

Thanks to some funding from the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Moose Jaw Pride will be flying in various special guests from other areas of Canada and the United States.

"We've got Coco Montrese coming from Las Vegas from Ru Paul's Drag Race. She's going to be here at the Cosmo Senior Centre on Saturday after the parade. We're super excited for that," Wickenhauser detailed. "Rosie and Riveters, an award-winning band from Saskatchewan but have really made a name for themselves across Canada, we're flying them in from Toronto. We're also flying Kai Cheng Thom in from Toronto who is an award-winning authour, a trans woman and really just a radical human being who is going to tell us about her own experiences and also talk a little bit how to empower other people through storytelling."

Some other entertainers from around the province that will be showcasing talent during Pride Week are Dangerous Cheese and Cat Abenstein.

There something for everyone this week through the various Pride events happening all throughout the Notorious City, but Wickenhauser said it's only made possible by the many relationships they've built many over the years, all the way to the ones created this year.

"We are able to work with people to do something for the greater good of the community. It really brings out the best in people, business and the community. We just have these beautiful community relationships and it's really exciting and it makes it a lot easier for us to do the thing that we're here to do."

The main staple of Pride Week and the most exciting for some is the parade that helps to wrap up the week's festivities. He said the event plays an important role in the message they send out to the community not only during Pride Week but throughout the year.

"It can be a very overwhelming and emotional experience. I remember my first Pride parade was in Saskatoon and just seeing the sea of people who were supporting, I think that's the sort of experience that we like to offer here in Moose Jaw. I remember the first parade we did here in Moose Jaw and the shock that we experienced realizing how many other people in the community who are supportive," said Wickenhauser.

He noted that one event they hope to see everyone at is their Mural Launch with a free BBQ on Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in conjunction with the Moose Jaw Police Service.
