The Moose Jaw and District Food Bank celebrated their 33rd birthday!

The group's treasurer was taking minutes when he realized that their anniversary was on February 1st, which the group posted about online yesterday.

"It just proves to me how much there still is a need in our community for the service that we provide here," said Deann Little, the Food Bank's Assistant Manager. "It makes us very happy that the community continues to support us so that we can keep our doors open, because we are not government funded in any which way - we rely solely on the community. So without their help we wouldn't be able to keep the doors open."

Little added that there wasn't much of a celebration, because they'll have more planned when a milestone comes along, but they stayed busy with going through what they had collected over the holidays.

"[Donations] are coming in slower, we're still going through the pallets from the Better Together Food Drive, that's a long process," Little added. "The shelves are full right now, it was a good drive, all the donations that came in over the Christmas holidays and before that has certainly helped to keep the shelves filled right now."

Right now the shelves are full, but if you are looking to give a nice 33rd birthday present, they are always looking for and accepting donations. A couple of things on their list are monetary donation, fresh produce like fruits and vegetables, food items on sale, and toiletries like toothbrushes and little shampoo bottles that are at hotels.
