Moose Jaw’s favorite mascot Willie Winmar is celebrating his 1st birthday.

Winmar is hosting a major birthday event for Willie and the community on Saturday, May 28th in Crescent Park.

“Willie was born in Crescent Park so it’s most fitting to have his first birthday in Crescent Park,” says Pete Iatridis the Manager of Business Development and Marketing.

It’ll take place from 11 am until 2 pm at the amphitheater and it’s free for anyone to come enjoy.

The birthday bash will be stacked with fun activities for the entire family.

“We’re going to have blow-up bouncy castles, face painting, coloring station, magician, live bands, food trucks, cupcakes, mascots, cornhole for the adults, giant-sized Jenga, connect four,” says Iatridis.

Arcadia is coming from Regina to play three 20-minute sets.

As for food trucks, people can expect to see Taco Time, Hot Diggity, Kona Ice Moose Jaw, and Lemon Heaven Moose Jaw.

Then around 12:30 pm, cupcakes will be delivered including a big dessert for Willie Winmar.

“We’re going to have swag set up at every station that you stop and visit. So, you’ll be able to pick up something different at every station,” says Iatridis.

The event will also double as a fundraiser for the Moose Jaw Humane Society. The MJHS will be at the birthday party with adoptable pets.

They will be collecting monetary donations and they’ll be selling lottery tickets for their 4 Paws Lottery.
