Both fire halls in Moose Jaw had their flags at half mast over the weekend.

The Moose Jaw North and South Fire Departments recognized Canada's Firefighter Memorial Day and showed respect for those within their field and to those who unfortunately have lost their lives.

"I think it's important to recognize the sacrifice the people have made in the past and the present," explained Fire Chief Rod Montgomery. "Certainly all career and volunteer firefighters make sacrifices and just to have a day to recognize that is very humbling."

Ceremonies were held throughout the country and within Saskatchewan on Sunday, showing support for the friends, families and coworkers of fallen members.
