A loyal CHAB listener approached me yesterday to tell me how impressed he is with the candidates running in the local riding of Moose Jaw-Lake Centre - Lanigan.

He was listening to our coverage of this week's candidates forum.  He thought the candidates were well-spoken and well-versed on the issues and their party's position on each.  I agree.

I think incumbent Conservative candidate Tom Lukiwski was probably the best but the NDP's Talon Regent and People's Party of Canada candidate Chey Craik were also impressive.

We'll have five people to chose from in Monday's federal election and if the recent past is any indication, you'll likely agree Lukiwski has an edge.

The last time anyone other than a Conservative won a federal election in the local riding was 19 years ago when the NDP's Dick Proctor was returned to Ottawa.

It was 2004 when Conservative Dave Batters narrowly defeated Proctor.  He won two elections before Ray Boughen served two consecutive terms.  The boundaries were changed and the riding re-named in 2015 when Lukiwski easily defeated all challengers.

More history will be made on Monday.
