The verdict is in after a two week trial took place, the jury has acquitted Gerald Stanley of the charge of second degree murder of Colten Boushie.

Stanley is a farmer from the Biggar area, who shot Boushie back in August of 2016.

A jury made up of 12 men and women entered the courtroom Friday evening after hours of deliberation and declared Stanley not guilty of 2nd degree murder.

Over the last few weeks jurors heard multiple versions of how the incident played out from some of the people who were on the Stanley farm that day, where an SUV entered the Stanley property that led to an altercation.

During the incident Stanley fatally shot Boushie, who was 22-years old at the time.
