Kyle Peeace’s attempted murder case was adjourned for a couple of weeks during Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Wednesday, but it didn’t come with a warning from the judge.

Peeace’s attendance was waived for Wednesday. Brendan Ryan appeared via telephone on behalf of defence lawyer Nick Brown.

Ryan said more time was needed to review disclosure and asked for an adjournment to April 18. He also indicated to the court that the defence may waive Peeace’s personal appearance at the next court date as well.

Judge David Chow said, while he understands the reasons for the adjournment, he had concerns about the number of delays in the case. In particular, Chow noted that trial dates set for Jan. 25 and 26 were vacated as Peeace looked for a new lawyer.

Chow granted the adjournment but warned that the court needs to see some progression at the next appearance.

Peeace was charged with attempted murder following an alleged machete attack in Downtown Moose Jaw on Sept. 28. He is also facing charges of breaching an undertaking, failing to appear in court, and breaking and enter.
