So, the national numbers came out first thing this morning.  The Canadian economy added jobs in July, marking the 8th straight month of growth.  The unemployment rate fell to its lowest point in 9 years.

So, the experts will tell us things are looking up but I worry about what's happening locally, right here in Moose Jaw.  Oh, you can still find a job in The Friendly City but we've been losing some key jobs and we're about to lose more.

As you know, our Sears store is closing and that means job loss.  A number of locals are transitioning as Valley View Centre winds down operations and, word is, some high-end jobs will be lost within the Five Hills Health Region as the Ministry of Health moves to a single, province-wide health authority.

I also see we have 251 houses or condos for sale in DiscoverMooseJaw.com's classified section and another 81 houses or apartments for rent.  I'm pretty sure that's not good.

Let's hope the City of Moose Jaw's Economic Development office has some good news for us in the near future.
