As a whole, Canadian employers added more than 34,000 jobs last month.   While that's well ahead of the 10,000 jobs economists expected, gains were all in part-time work.

In Saskatchewan, our unemployment rate moved up slightly from 4.8 to 5 per cent from July to August.  Still, it's tied with Alberta for the lowest in the country.  In Moose Jaw and area our unemployment rate is up too, according to fresh numbers from Stats Canada. The unemployment rate grew from 4.4 per cent in July to 4.7 per cent in August.  That said, it is still the second lowest unemployment rate in Saskatchewan, behind Regina.

But the province is putting a positive spin on things, noting that 20,000 new jobs have been created since August of 2011.  Not just in any one sector, but across the board.
