Over the weekend Don McMorris resigned as the Minister responsible for Crown Investments Corporation, and his positions with the Saskatchewan Government Insurance, Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority and the Public Service Commission after being charged with impaired driving on August 5th.

McMorris said he regretted his decision on Saturday night, saying he understood it was wrong to drink and drive.

Monday morning Premier Brad Wall appointed Jim Reiter to take over most of the responsibilities of McMorris on an interim basis.

Reiter, who is the MLA for Rosetown-Elrose, will assume these new responsibilities along with his current ones, as he is also currently the Minister of Government Relations, Minister responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for SaskEnergy and SaskTel.

Wall stated a new Deputy Premier will not be named until the upcoming cabinet shuffle, which is anticipated for the end of this month.

McMorris will continue to represent the constituency of Indian Head-Milestone as its MLA.
