The Moose Jaw Humane Society has partnered with the app ResQwalk, their new initiative to raise money by simply going for a walk.

The company raises money for animal societies all across North America, and Moose Jaw has recently been approved for the list. With the app, if you go out for a walk or run, the more steps you take, the more money will be donated.

Dana Haukaas, Executive Director of the Humane Society, explained the basic structure.

"This is an app that has been around for quite a while, and it's been taken over recently by Best Friends Animal Society, and they are now donating the money and the more steps we take, the higher up the ladder we go and the more money (that) comes back to the Humane Society."

Haukaas encourages anyone who loves to walk their dogs, walk by themselves or go for runs to download the app, as it's the simplest way to be helpful that almost anyone can join in on.

"You can take your own dog for a walk, go for a walk by yourself, or we'd love it if you came down and take a shelter dog for a walk and start your app. And every step you take gives money back to the humane society, and it doesn't have to come out of your own pocket," explained Haukaas.

The Best Friends Animal Society is the American-run company behind the app, and states their goal for 2025 is to have a 90% or higher save rate for animals across the entire United States, instating a no-kill policy in shelters.

To download ResQwalk, it is available on both the Apple and Android app stores.
