After having to take a backseat to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the Moose Jaw Health Foundation’s Concerts in the Park is returning in 2021 for its 26th year.

The shortened season will run every Wednesday night at the Crescent Park Amphitheatre from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 4 and running for all of August.

Moose Jaw Health Foundation executive director Kelly McElree said they are excited to be back after the one-year hiatus.

“To be honest, we're just delighted to bring it back to the people of Moose Jaw. People haven't been able to do much with COVID and now that everyone has or is in the process of sticking it to COVID, we can open things up again and to the light of the community,” he said.

The concerts are free. However, a collection will be taken for the health foundation to help purchase a dialysis machine for the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital.

Since the event began 26 years ago, Concerts in the Park has raised over $118,000 for the health foundation to purchase equipment for the local hospital.

With public health restrictions expected to be lifted on July 11, McElree is hoping to see good crowds this year.

“People are excited about just getting out and doing virtually anything. And what's better than getting outside on a Wednesday evening and enjoying some great tunes? It costs you nothing and bring the whole family down and have a just a wonderful evening,” he said.

Each year, Concerts in the Park features local musician and bands who volunteer their talents for the cause. The following is this year’s line-up:

  • Aug. 4 – Heritage Fiddlers
  • Aug. 11 – Bonnie & The Jets
  • Aug. 18 – SRW Country Trio
