It's often we hear that provincially numbers are rising in crystal meth and opioid use, and many people caught in the cycle of using those drugs seek treatment to stop.   One facility that offers that help is Wakamow Manor in Moose Jaw.

Wakamow Manor is a detox facility located on Iroquois Street E.  It services not only local residents but people from all over Saskatchewan offering in-patient and long term residential withdrawal management treatment services.

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority in 2017-18, there were 503 province-wide admissions to Wakamow for social detox.  That works to an average of just a little under ten admissions per week.

During that same time frame (2017-18) officials said 72 of those patients came from within the former Five Hills Health Region, which encompasses Moose Jaw and the surrounding area including the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.  That number represents about 25% of the total admissions to the facility.

The Ministry of Health only tracks admission and not referrals.  As well, they don't separate statistics by choice of drugs such as crystal meth or opioids.
