Moose Jaw-born Adam Hadwin got very hot during the opening round of the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills in Wisconsin.

Hadwin fired a first round four-under 68 on Thursday at the second major championship of the golf season.

That opening round included a run of six straight birdies for Hadwin that tied a U.S. Open record. His run of birdies started with a four on the par-5 18th and he followed it up with another birdie at the par-5 1st hole.

Hadwin ended up posting a five-under 31 on the front-nine, which was his second nine, and put him three shots back of leader American Rickie Fowler, who posted a 65 for a record-tying seven-under opening round.

Hadwin is back out for his second round on Friday morning. The tournament wraps up on Father’s Day Sunday.
