So, earlier this week, we talked about the Angus Reid Institute's study on poverty in Canada.  The results are alarming.

Timely then that the Canadian Taxpayers Federation has uncovered some gems this week.  Alarming?  More like infuriating.

In documents obtained under the Access to Information Act, the CTF found Global Affairs Canada has spent more than $127,000 on crystal glassware since 2016.  Yes, they had them made - champagne flutes, wine glasses and water goblets, all with customized maple leaf cresting.

They also found evidence of a $24,638 purchase of seat cushions for the Canadian embassy in Mexico City.

Oh, and the Canadian Consulate General in Hong Kong spent $46,000 on new tables, chairs and credenzas.  They bought the new stuff from a "luxury furniture designer" in Vancouver.

Hey, at least they're shopping local.
