‘Goals for Food’ is a partnership between the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Mosaic Company, raising funds for local organizations to combat food insecurity.

Jaret Schneider, director of business operations with the Moose Jaw Warriors, said the partnership with the Mosaic Company is appreciated.

“For every home goal the Warriors score at the Moose Jaw Events Centre during the regular season, Mosaic Company donates $250 to a couple of our local food partners here in town, including Hunger in Moose Jaw, the Wakamow Valley Authority, Moose Jaw Food Bank, and Riverside Mission,” said Schneider.

“Every year the Warriors seem to score more and more goals, and the donations from Mosaic just continue to go up.”

This year, a total of $40,250 was raised through home goals – up from $34,000 last year.

“It’s been a great partnership over the last couple of years – I know the local food partners really appreciate it as well,” said Schneider.

He added that the Mosaic Company also does Goals for Food with the Regina Pats, making for a rivalry between the two teams. “It can be a little bit of a race between the Warriors and Pats every year to see who can score more home goals and have a little bit more money donated from the Mosaic Company.”

The Moose Jaw Warriors are playing the Swift Current Broncos tonight with a 3-1 record in a best-of-seven series, and a win would mean moving on to the Eastern Conference finals.
