There are four new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan Wednesday, according to the province’s daily release Tuesday, bringing the provincial total to 757 over the course of the pandemic.

Two of the cases are in the far north, one is in the south and one is in the north. Five people are in hospital now. Three of the new cases are in Saskatchewan and one of the new cases was a person who was tested out of province.

There has been one more recovery.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases up to 757 in the province, with 101 of the cases currently active.

There have been a total of 642 recoveries and 13 deaths so far in the pandemic.

There are five people in hospital with COVID-19, with one person in intensive care in the South region, which includes Moose Jaw. The rest are receiving inpatient care, with two in the south and two in Saskatoon.

Of the 101 currently active cases, 55 are in the far north, two are in the north, nine are in Saskatoon, and 35 are in the south region. There are still no active cases in the central region or the Regina region.

Of the 757 provincial cases overall, 157 are travel-related, 456 are community contacts or mass gatherings,100 have no known exposures and 44 are under investigation by public health.

Fifty-five of the cases are health care workers, and the province says the infections may not be because of their health care in all instances.

A total of 185 of the cases are from the Saskatoon area, 80 are from the Regina area, 111 are from the north, 314 are from the far north, 54 are from the south and 12 are from the central region.  

One hundred and seven of the cases are of people 19 and younger, and 151 are in the 60-and-older range. Of all of the cases, 51 percent are in female patients and 49 percent are male.

Thus far, 61,856 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. According to the latest numbers, There has been a rate of 46,345 tests per one million people, compared to the national average of 66,053 tests per million.

Nationally as of Wednesday afternoon, there have been over 102,100 confirmed cases and over 8,400 deaths from COVID-19. There have also been over 65,000 recoveries. The United States has had over 2.44 million cases with nearly 124,000 deaths.
