With the "Paths to Reconciliation" National Tour launching in Ottawa, it will be making its way to Moose Jaw this week.

Student services support teacher at Sacred Heart School, Vivian Gauvin is excited and hopeful with an opportunity like this to arrive.

"I was lucky enough to be part of the educational advisory group that was writing the curriculum for the Indigenous peoples' atlas of Canada, so this resource helps teachers and students understand the past, the present and of course the future of indigenous people in Canada."

Gauvin went on to say Phyllis Webstad will be telling her residential school survivor story to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

"Orange Shirt Day is a non-profit organization based in Williams Lake B.C, that's where Orange Shirt day began in 2013 and Phyllis Webstad who will be coming to our school to present is the founder of the Orange Shirt Day," said Gauvin.

Hoping to grasp the Canadian history about residential schools, the Canadian geographic education, and the Orange Shirt Society are doing this tour to help educate elementary and high school students about the intergenerational impact the schools had on Indigenous people.

The presentations are being held Wednesday at the local elementary school.
