Five additional applications for funding through the provincial government’s Community Airport Partnership were approved last week. The applications were for nearly $320,000 in total of improvements, with the costs being split with the province and the communities.

"CAP is a municipal program that provides funding for the rehabilitation, construction, and capital improvements of airport infrastructure for community-owned airports in Saskatchewan," Highways Minister Fred Bradshaw said. "These airports play an important role to ensure safety by supporting vital services like air ambulance, law enforcement and firefighting."

The airports that received funding through this round of the program are in Estevan, La Ronge, Lampman, Maple Creek and Yorkton.

The airport in Estevan received $44,621 for changing runway light regulators and to repair field circuits. Another $62,500 is for La Ronge, where they will be installing cameras and replacing groundside and airside doors.

There was $35,850 approved for Lampman to add turn pads at both ends of the runway, $12,000 for two radio frequency signs, beacon light repairs and additional anchor stakes in Yorkton and $3,575 for a new beacon in Maple Creek.
