If you were up bright and early and saw smoke coming from the neighbourhood of William Grayson this morning, that's because a garage went up in flames in the early hours.

A witness who lives just half a block down the street noticed it at 4:30 when police and fire had already been called.

When fire crews arrived, the garage was completed engulfed in flames.

"The outcome was already determined. Everything was lost," said fire chief Rod Montgomery. "They had to quickly hit it, knock down the fire and they did a good job doing that."

Crews were on the screw for over two hours putting out the blaze. Some adjacent building did receive heat and smoke damage. There were no injuries to report.

Mary Phenix-Cox explains what happened.

"Somebody had already called the police and the fire department because they were there right away. They had all the roads blocked and the fire crew was already starting on the fire. There was black smoke everywhere, it was intense."

Phenix-Cox added that the fire left little to be desired.

"There is not much left of the garage, even the neighbours siding was melted because of the fire."

At this time it is believed that no one was injured in the blaze, more information will be provided as it is received.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
