Jack Layton stops in Saskatchewan to call for fairness for our province in the next federal budget expected Monday in Ottawa.

Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton making a visit to Regina yesterday, meeting with his people here and talking to us about the upcoming federal budget. The budget is being delivered on Monday in Ottawa and our province is waiting anxiously for some type of equalization announcement.

Mr. Layton is calling on the Conservative government for some fairness for Saskatchewan. "After all Mr. Harper campaigned with all of his Conservative candidates saying that the resource revenues from non-renewable resources would be excluded form the equalization formula recalculations. These are complicated mathematical formulas but it boils down to is Saskatchewan going to be penalized because suddenly its starting to get some of the types of revenues flowing that Alberta's had for years?"

Layton says the NDP is standing up for fairness for the hard working families of Saskatchewan and reminding our Conservative MP's that they promised to exclude Saskatchewan's resource revenues would be excluded from the equalization formula.

If that was to happen millions of dollars would stay in Saskatchewan to help pay for things like infrastructure.
