Hoping to give people the motivation to dig out photo albums that have been tucked away or go through old shoe boxes filled with pictures of family and friends, the Moose Jaw Dayz Facebook page has created a contest looking for photo submissions.

Administrator Billy Shiers said the photos don't have to be from a certain era or feature certain buildings and people. They're looking for anything and everything that has a tie to our city.

"Anything that's filled with history, that's interesting, that pops out from a Moose Jaw perspective. It makes people think and wonder and reminisce and celebrate the city; that's really what we're after," explained Shiers. "I'm fairly certain that there are people in Moose Jaw that are sitting on stockpiles of old photos, there has to be. I know even with my own family when my grandparents passed away, we were finding photos that we didn't even know we had that were relevant to Moose Jaw's history."

He noted that their search for photos became easier once they started to offer a prize in return.

"Sure enough since then, we've been getting some newer photos, people have been posting new stuff, some pretty amazing stuff actually. We're hoping we can keep getting more and more of that coming."
