The carbon tax and the SNC-Lavalin scandal have dominated the news in recent days.  These stories will most certainly add some drama to the upcoming federal election campaign.

It's interesting to note, a number of spending announcements in the past few weeks haven't received much attention.

The Trudeau government has announced $4.2 billion in spending since the SNC-Lavalin story broke.  Did you know that?

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has the list.  It includes 267 announcements in the past two months.  "The largest...is $1 billion in innovation funding for southern Ontario...while the smallest was $8,000 to fund upgrades for a maple sugar camp in New Brunswick...", according to the CTF.

We often see increased government spending in the months leading up to an election but the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says "...all 267 announcements are effectively being funded with borrowed money that will be added to the growing federal debt."
