Moose Jaw Warriors prospect Cade Hayes and the Tisdale Trojans are heading to the Telus Cup Midget AAA National Championship after winning the Western Regional title on their home ice on Sunday.

Hayes had a goal and three points to lead the Trojans to a 6-5 overtime win over the Thunder Bay Kings in the final on Sunday.

Whether they won or lost, the Trojans were already heading to the Telus Cup as the Kings will be hosting the tournament, which starts on Apr. 22 in Thunder Bay.

Dawson Schaff scored the overtime winner for Tisdale with 1:42 left in the extra period.

The Trojans outshot the Kings, 46-24, in the win, including 11-0 in overtime.

Tisdale posted a perfect 4-0 record at regionals, while the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League champion Notre Dame Hounds went 1-1-1 during the round robin. The Hounds missed out on a spot in the final after tying the Kings, 1-1, on Saturday.
