This hot, dry weather has helped harvest along, according to the weekly crop report. Harvest is now well ahead of the 5 year average.

Right now 14% of the crop is in the bin, where as the average is 8% for this time of year. 15% is swathed or ready to be straight cut.

The South West of the province is the farthest ahead at 30%, with the South East at 23%.

Top soil moisture is not doing well however, with only 1% rated surplus while nearly 70% is rated at short or very short.

In addition to the crop report, SaskPower wants to remind farmers to be careful when moving equipment from field to field, as there were 12 reports of machinery contacting power lines, 4 just in the last week.
