The Findlater Ranch Rodeo presented by K+S Potash Canada was held this weekend and organizers say the event brings a missing sense of community back to the small town.

"The purpose, we believe, is to celebrate the western way of life and show some respect for the working cowboys that do this kind of work on their farms and ranches every day," said Shannon McArton, event director. "And especially, it's here to entertain. Not a lot going on in these small towns anymore, and we just like to have a day that's fun for the whole family."

Since 2009, the Findlater Rodeo has brought together working cowboys and weekend warriors to compete in events that honour the traditional work of cowboys and ranchers.

McArton says it's also a chance for the larger community to come together at an event that's fun for the whole family.

"It's really important for community building. We get volunteers from several communities around that help us put this on. We pull in cowboys from all across mainly the southern half of the province who are looking for a chance to get together and compete, but also have a lot of good fun and camaraderie."
